How This Began
Ever since they started, I've always been drawn to podcasts. I think it comes from my deep affinity for the sense of hearing and anything related to audio, including conversation, language, music, and voice. I remember my music teachers "training our ear" and learning to listen. To me, podcasts (and audiobooks) are such a unique way of story-telling, conversing, and communicating information.
I took a podcast class one day in January 2019 that introduced me to details and the requirements of starting a podcast. Ever since then, I've been honing in on two things: why and what about.
I'm excited to introduce the Kairos Project: a collection of my conversations with some incredible people. That's it. I truly believe everyone has a gift to share and I want to share these people's experiences, stories, and thoughts to the world. The beauty of sharing is that someone may resonate with a topic or learn something through this dialogue, and that's the cherry on top.
Sobremesa
Do you ever have that surreal moment where you're extremely self-aware of the conversation you're in? And how awesome it is to just be sitting there, across from this person, and just smiling at what you're talking about? Or have you ever been leaving a conversation and just thinking "Wow, that felt great"or repeating what someone said to you?
I loved this idea of exchange at a table and stumbled across this concept of sobremesa, which is a Spanish word that has no direct translation to English. One explanation states:
The sobremesa is a digestive period that allows for the slow settling of food, gossip, ideas and conversations. It is also a sybaritic time; a recognition that there is more to life than working long hours and that few pleasures are greater than sharing a table and then chatting nonsense for a hefty portion of what remains of the day.
I wanted the format of this project to follow this idea: free-flowing, deliberate, and present. The environment and how we feel are just as important as our conversation or the topics. This idea of a table also inspired the logo where two circles intersect and blend their colors and stories together.
